Jon and his crew are just great. Did he ever help us out quickly and efficiently. They were so nice, I thought I was with old friends. I'm going to tell the short version of my difficult time before I got to Precision: So, it's Sunday afternoon, and my coolant resivoir just explodes under the hood on I80 in the Poconos. The belt tensioner failed, causing the water pump to stop circulating water. Pressure builds, and BOOM! One hundred miles from home in NYC, 100 miles from our destination in Binghamton, NY, we called AAA Roadside assistance for a tow. Still Sunday afternoon, mind you, so I google AAA Auto Repair, Binghamton. This leads me to Precision. I call, but they're not there. I decided to do the only thing I could think of: ask the tow driver to drop the car at Precision's lot and I'll leave the keys somewhere they can find them in the morning. I'm thinking we'll have to take a taxi from the shop to our hotel, then rent a car in the morning. Well, by some stroke of luck, the owner, Jon, just came from home to the shop to put out the garbage just when we pulled up! He greeted us warmly, told us he was sorry we had a difficult day, gave us a loaner car, and told us he'd look at it in the morning and call with the information. I got the call around 9:30 the next day. They had diagnosed the problem, further inspected the vehicle for any other significant issues, and told me what the car needed. This was a pretty big job, and they took care of it within hours. I believe that I paid a fair price for the work and the professionalism. The 'further inspection' I mentioned earlier noted a few issued that will need to be addressed in the future, but they did not try to 'upsell' me. They wanted me to know about these issues, and to understand that some things on the list are more important than others. To me, this is what my mechanic should be doing. The average driver is not a mechanic, and can only tell his technician when something feels, looks, or sounds funny. I rely on my mechanic to perform basic tests and inspections every time the car goes in. He should let me know when it's time for general maintenance. I check the oil every fill-up, and perform a cursory, layman's inspection under the hood. But my regular mechanic should be able to pick up much more than I can. I truly believe that if Precision was my regular mechanic, some of the issues I now have with my vehicle would have been prevented or minimized. You get what you pay for. Can you find a 'bargain' mechanic? One who will 'cut you a deal?' Probably, but you'll pay for it in the long run. I'm not even saying these guys are expensive. I don't know - I have nothing to compare it to - but as I said, I believe I paid a fair price for the good work that was done to my car. Do not hesitate to talk to this shop. They'll take good care of you. And while you're there, send my best regards to Jon and the crew!"

Email received July 18 from Wendy M. who was stranded out of town: Scott, the key issue for my car was exactly what you suspected it was. I followed your advice and got an AAA-approved locksmith who came out and took care of it. If I hadn't called you, I probably would have thought I needed to have it towed to the dealership and spent a great deal more on towing and repair. I appreciate your help, even when I am 800 miles away.....
In a letter dated May 19, 2008, from customer John Haluska: "Please accept this letter as one of thanks and appreciation. Recently...I brought my 1999 S-10 in for a tune up; I also added your 'Spring Special.' I dealt directly with...Mark during this time. Mark took the time to call and inform me of a few things which needed attention. Most of these items were of a maintenance category..which I had not done.
